Jesus is Better: Hebrews 1 (Sermon)
This powerful message challenges us to examine what we've placed alongside Jesus in our lives. Drawing from the book of Hebrews, we're confronted with a community of believers who knew about Jesus but were worn down by trying to supplement Him with other things. The central revelation is stark and liberating: Jesus is not meant to share the throne of our hearts with anything else. Whether it's politics, education, relationships, or our quest for approval, we're called to recognize that Jesus plus anything equals less than Jesus alone. The scripture reminds us that Jesus carries the whole world, upholds the universe by His word and power, and reigns supreme over everything. This isn't about adding Jesus to our existing priorities; it's about surrendering everything to His authority. When we're exhausted from trying to find completion in temporary things, this message offers rest in the sufficiency of Christ. The book of Hebrews was written to people tempted to return to old ways when faith got difficult, and that same temptation exists today. We're invited to stop filtering scripture through our preferences and instead let scripture filter everything else in our lives.
