Jesus is Better Because of His Blood (Sermon)

This powerful message challenges us to examine how we truly understand the sacrifice of Jesus and whether we're living in the freedom He purchased for us. Drawing from Hebrews chapter 9, we're confronted with a transformative truth: while the Old Testament system required constant sacrifices of bulls and goats that could only cleanse the outside, Jesus' blood accomplished something eternally different. His sacrifice wasn't temporary or external—it purified our very conscience and made us righteous from the inside out. The sermon uses a relatable illustration of a toddler repeatedly apologizing for the same forgiven mistake, mirroring how many of us approach God. We confess our sins, receive forgiveness, yet hours or days later find ourselves apologizing again for the same thing, dwelling in guilt and shame. This reveals a deeper issue: we haven't fully grasped the completeness of Christ's work. The message reminds us that when we confess our sins, God doesn't just cover them temporarily—He removes them as far as the east is from the west and casts them into the sea of forgetfulness. If God doesn't remember our forgiven sins, why do we keep meditating on them? This isn't permission to sin freely, but rather a call to mature in our faith, to stop living in the elementary cycle of sin-guilt-sacrifice and instead walk in the security and holiness that grace empowers us to live.
