Beneath the Pressure (Sermon)
This powerful message confronts a truth many of us face: we've become so busy doing things for God that we've stopped cultivating fellowship with Him. Drawing from A.W. Tozer's classic work 'The Pursuit of God,' we're challenged to examine what burdens we're carrying that God never asked us to bear. The sermon uses the story of Moses from Numbers 11 as a vivid illustration of burnout and exhaustion, even in obedience. Moses, despite his intimate relationship with God and witnessing countless miracles, reached a breaking point where he cried out that the burden was too heavy. Through a compelling visual demonstration with chairs being stacked and held, we see how life's pressures accumulate: marriages, diagnoses, disappointments, guilt, finances, and broken relationships. The central revelation is striking: even obedience can become crushing when we start carrying what only God can sustain. We learn three transformative truths: God never asked us to be the source, strength runs out but dependence does not, and rest comes from remembering who actually carries the mission. This isn't about working less for God; it's about recognizing the difference between what God calls us to lead versus what only He can carry. The invitation is clear: put down what you were never meant to hold and rediscover the intimacy with God that brings true rest.
