Who Are You? (Sermon)

What if the question that changes everything is not 'what do you do?' but 'who are you?' That single shift in perspective is at the heart of this message, and it challenges us to examine where we have been drawing our sense of self from. So many of us have spent years building our identity around our careers, our roles, our achievements, and even our failures, only to find that when those things shift or disappear, we feel lost. The truth the Scriptures lay out is both simple and staggering: we are God's masterpiece, his handiwork, created in Christ Jesus for good works that were prepared before we even took our first breath. Ephesians 2:10 makes it clear that who we are comes before what we do, not the other way around. This message invites us to stop exhausting ourselves trying to perform our way into significance and instead receive the identity that has already been given to us by the One who created us. Like Jesus at his baptism, who was declared beloved and pleasing to the Father before he had performed a single miracle, we are invited to rest in the truth that we are enough, not because of what we have accomplished, but because of whose we are.
