Vision Sunday (Sermon)

Jan 11, 2026    Heath Watts

What if everything we've been chasing to fill our lives has been the wrong fuel all along? This powerful message challenges us to reconsider what truly brings fullness to our existence. Drawing from Matthew 22 and John 10:10, we're reminded that Jesus identified the greatest commandment as loving God with all our heart, soul, and mind, followed equally by loving our neighbor as ourselves. But here's the revolutionary truth: we cannot authentically love people unconditionally unless we're first deeply in love with God. This isn't about checking religious boxes or following a list of dos and don'ts—it's about a transformative relationship that changes how we see everything. The vision presented is beautifully simple yet profoundly challenging: Love God, Love People, Live Life to the Full. We're invited to understand that fullness doesn't come from bigger bank accounts, more possessions, or temporary highs that soothe an eternal hunger. Instead, life to the full flows from giving rather than getting, from serving rather than sitting, from following His way rather than finding our own. When Jesus said He came that we might have life abundantly, He wasn't talking about someday in heaven—He meant right now, on Wednesday when things aren't going our way, in the midst of problems and confusing seasons. This message calls us beyond being mere fans of Jesus to becoming true followers, recognizing that we're all difficult people in need of God's grace, and that the way we love others will either draw people to Christ or push them away.
