Week One

This powerful study invites us into the lives of the matriarchs—Sarah, Rebecca, Rachel, and Leah—the mothers of our faith who partnered with God to birth His promises into the earth. We discover that God's promises always require us to step beyond our comfort zones, just as He called Abram and Sarai to leave their native land, their relatives, and their financial security to follow Him into the unknown. The study introduces us to five stages of birthing God's promises: receiving the promise, waiting well, leaning into pain, nurturing what God births through us, and finally releasing it for His glory. We learn that when God whispers His purposes into our hearts—whether to birth children who will change atmospheres, launch ministries, start businesses, or break generational cycles—He pairs every invitation with a promise. The question becomes: do we hear the discomfort of the command, or do we hear the invitation of promise? Sarah's story particularly challenges us to examine what we believe about ourselves and about God. Her barrenness wasn't just physical—it represented a deeper struggle with identity and worth. Yet God persistently returned with His promise, ultimately changing her very name from Sarai to Sarah, from daughter to mother. This reminds us that what God has called us to carry cannot be handed off to someone else. We are not replaceable or interchangeable. The promises of God are specifically designed to partner with who He created us to be, and they always reach beyond us to impact generations and point the world to Jesus.
