The Authority We Have in Him (Sermon)

Nov 30, 2025    Zach Hinojos

This message unveils a transformative truth about our spiritual position: we are seated with Christ in heavenly places. Drawing from Ephesians 2, we discover that our authority doesn't come from personal strength or merit, but from our relationship with the Father. The beautiful imagery of a young child confidently approaching the king's throne—not as a stranger begging for favor, but as a son claiming his rightful place—captures the essence of our identity in Christ. We learn three profound movements in spiritual warfare: first, we must sit and rest in what Jesus has already accomplished, recognizing that His finished work on the cross means we don't have to strive or earn our position. Second, we must walk out this authority in our daily lives, bringing heaven's order into earthly chaos through faith rather than sight. Finally, we must stand firm against the enemy's attacks, refusing to give ground to fear, sin, or lies. The powerful illustration of fire unable to burn what's already been burned reminds us that Jesus took the punishment we deserved—He was already 'burnt' so we don't have to be. This means we don't fight for victory; we fight from victory, standing on the solid foundation of Christ's completed work.
