The Enemy's Attacks (Sermon)

This powerful exploration of spiritual warfare reveals three primary tactics the enemy uses against us: deception, temptation, and accusation. Drawing from 2 Corinthians 10, we're reminded that our weapons have divine power to demolish strongholds—those patterns and beliefs that hold us captive. The enemy's oldest trick, used since the Garden of Eden, is deception: twisting God's word with subtle lies that make us question truth itself. We're challenged to examine whether we've been walking around spiritually deceived, believing half-truths about ourselves, our circumstances, or God's character. The antidote? Truth. As John 8:32 promises, knowing the truth sets us free. But we must move beyond mere knowledge to allowing God's word to penetrate our hearts. Temptation follows deception—the enemy entices us toward temporary relief rather than eternal freedom, whether through action or dangerous inaction like unforgiveness. Our defense combines God's word hidden in our hearts with our willingness to crucify our flesh. Finally, accusation is revealed through the vivid imagery of Zechariah 3, where Satan stands in heaven's throne room prosecuting believers day and night. Yet Jesus sits closer to the Father, constantly interceding for us. The critical question becomes: whose voice are we hearing? When accusations overwhelm us, we can turn to Jesus and ask what He says—and His response is always one of rebuke toward the accuser and acceptance toward us.
