Dressed Up, But Messed Up

In this powerful message, we explore the parable of the Pharisee and the tax collector from Luke 18:9-14. This story challenges us to examine our hearts and motives when we come to worship. Are we like the Pharisee, coming to be seen and to compare ourselves favorably to others? Or are we like the tax collector, coming with humility to confess our sins and receive God's mercy? The sermon reminds us that God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble. It encourages us to abandon our 'know-it-all' attitudes and instead approach God with complete dependence and vulnerability. This message invites us to undergo a 'radical pharisectomy' in our own lives, recognizing that we all have areas where we need God's grace and freedom.
