Misled to Spirit-led (Sermon)

This powerful message challenges us to move beyond our misconceptions about the Holy Spirit and embrace a deeper, more personal relationship with God's presence on earth. Drawing from Acts 19, we encounter Paul's discovery of believers who had never even heard of the Holy Spirit, a situation that mirrors many of our own experiences in different church traditions. Whether we grew up Pentecostal, Baptist, or non-denominational, we all carry preconceptions that may limit our understanding of this incredible gift. The teaching emphasizes that the Holy Spirit is not merely a force or an experience to be sought after, but a person to be known. Using both Old Testament Hebrew (ruach) and New Testament Greek (pneuma) terminology, we learn that the Holy Spirit is like breath or wind, something we cannot see but can definitely feel. The most transformative insight is that Jesus considered His departure necessary so that the Holy Spirit could come and be with us always, everywhere. This means we do not need to invite the Holy Spirit into our presence, but rather become aware of His constant companionship. The call is to stop chasing gifts and start cultivating relationship, to understand that the Holy Spirit is not about running, shouting, or performing, but about experiencing the presence of the person of God within us, guiding us to levels we could never reach on our own.
